We’re excited to announce that Uncanny Automator 5.2 is now available, and it’s another big release. Besides 2 new integrations, there’s a lot happening under the hood, including some significant improvements that will affect all users.
Constant Contact is a user-friendly email marketing platform that can now be connected to Automator recipes. In the 5.2 release, we’re adding 4 new actions:
This new integration allows use cases like adding a contact to a list when they submit a form or complete a purchase and tagging a user when they complete a course so that you can initiate an automation in Constant Contact.
With Memberium for Keap, you can connect your WordPress site directly to Keap to automate member access, profile updates, personalized automations and more. This new integration with Memberium adds 1 action in the free version: Update a contact field. With it, you can have WordPress profile updates, form submissions, purchases and more update contact records in Keap. (Additional actions are now available in Automator Pro 5.2.)
When we initially released the Mautic integration, we had some great customer feedback about how to make it more useful. Most of it was related to the use of segments, so we’re excited to announce these new actions:
With these new additions, you can do things like add a student to a segment when they pass a quiz or remove a contact from a segment when a product purchase is refunded.
There’s one more trigger that rounds out the free Uncanny Automator 5.2 release: A ticket is opened in Fluent Support. Maybe you want a Slack notification when a new ticket is opened, or maybe you pair it with Automator Pro’s conditions to get better incoming ticket triage, like sending a WhatsApp message if the user submitting the ticket has a VIP tag or is from a certain organization.
As mentioned at the beginning of this post, there are a few really important changes in this release.
This one is huge: We now support manual retries of webhook actions. Suppose you have 2 WordPress sites, one with WooCommerce where you market courses, one with LifterLMS where users take the courses. Someone buys a course, but the Lifter site is down for maintenance–so the webhook to set the user up as a new student with course access fails. Now you can go back into the log to see the failure, rerun the webhook, and get everything back on track.
As we strive to make Automator as lean and performant as possible, we have made some big framework changes to reduce memory usage. Along the same lines, we have maintained PHP 5.6 support for a very long time to ensure maximum compatibility, but as WordPress itself no longer supports it, we will also require PHP 7.0 or higher in future releases. (Yes, this is also already very old and few other plugins even support 7.0, but we still do our best to work well in as many environments as we can.)
Automator 5.2 makes big changes to the Twitter settings UI. Besides a name change to X/Twitter, we have made it far easier to use your own Twitter developer app with Automator.
There’s a new filter to control outgoing emails in recipes for testing: automator_send_email. Using that filter, you can turn off emails for a specific user ID (across all Automator recipes) or a specific recipe ID. This addresses feedback from some users that sometimes they want to test recipes out that need to stay live, but they don’t want their tests to trigger real emails to users.
Finally, users of our Uncanny Toolkit Pro for LearnDash plugin will greatly appreciate that when the Group Registration module is active, we have new “Group signup URL” tokens available for actions in Uncanny Groups and LearnDash integrations. This means that you could have an Easy Digital Downloads purchase create a group, then send the purchaser a link to the unique registration URL that students can visit to add themselves to that new group.
That covers the highlights for this release. For full details, make sure to review the changelog.
