Uncanny Automator 2.11 is now available! It’s a pretty incredible release that adds new video tracking, social posting and ecommerce capabilities to Automator. All new features are in the free plugin and available to all WordPress users at no cost.
Before we jump into what’s new, we did want to share some other important news: our Google Sheets integration is out of beta. Google approved our app and now Pro users can send any WordPress data they want straight to Google Sheets, no delays or per-use fees. We really want to thank our 100 beta testers for trying it out; we’ve seen a lot of excitement and tons of creative ideas for that action. And over the last 30 days of the beta, Google shows zero errors for adding WordPress records to Google Sheets using our action. None.
Now let’s take a closer look at what’s new in Automator 2.11.
Adam at WP Crafter reached out about his new plugin just before launch, and our team couldn’t wait to add support as soon as possible. Presto Player is an amazingly capable video player plugin for WordPress with a robust feature set and comes at a fraction of the cost of competing solutions. We were also really excited to add video tracking capabilities to Automator.
For the Uncanny Automator 2.11 release, we’re adding 1 new trigger: A user completes a video. This trigger allows any recipe to run when a user watches an entire video, i.e. reaches 100% of the video viewed. When that happens, you can do useful things like this:
Presto Player is a free plugin available on WordPress.org; be sure to give it a try if you use video on your WordPress website.
If you use Twitter to post content, this new integration will completely transform how you do it and what’s possible. And it’s in the free plugin, there are no limits on the number of tweets you can post or the use of content from your WordPress site in those tweets.
Automator 2.11 includes a single action for Twitter: Post a tweet. Publish a new post on your site? Automatically publish a tweet too. Or maybe you want to use tweets to announce new events, user accomplishments, new forum topics, etc. It all just works, and you can include any text, common tokens or tokens from your triggers in the status message text.
There is one limitation to consider: tweets must be 280 characters or less. Automator checks the the character limit in the UI, but if you include tokens and other dynamic content in the message (which we cannot check in advance) the tweet will fail if it’s over 280 characters. Please make sure tweets are always under 280 characters, including token output.
Our third new integration in Uncanny Automator 2.11 adds yet another ecommerce integration to Automator. Now purchases made with WP Simple Pay, a popular and lightweight ecommerce plugin, can trigger Automator recipes.
Finally, the Automator 2.11 releases includes 6 new triggers for WP User Manager, which was originally introduced as part of Uncanny Automator Pro 2.11. This update rounds out what’s possible with that integration with the following additions:
